Alana Weatherbee Book 1

I recently read Alana Weatherbee Book 1 in a series by Jack Sorenson.  Reminds me a lot of Harry Potter but the feel of the school is a little different than I imagine how Harry Potter was.  It's about a 15 year old girl who leaves home and her father and goes to school to learn about magic.  In book 1 of this series, Alana meets a boy named Logan who is a little older than her and he is a werewolf who teaches at the school she goes to.  (Quite interesting how she falls in love with a teacher.)  Logan never knew who his family was but we find out at the very beginning of the series.  There is the pushing away and making up of the two that we see.  It will be interesting how the relationship turns out.  Alana finds this book in the library that isn't your normal spells book.  I have to say it didn't end like a Harry Potter book.  This book really leave you hanging.

My problem with the book was there could have been so much more to it like the game that was played called Labyrinth and more about the friends she hangs out with.  There was also the relationship between a 15 year old and the "teacher".  Course he is probably not even over 19 but still.  So I really would recommend this book for more 13 year olds and older.

Please note that clicking on this photo will not take you to amazon where I got this picture so you can see the cover of the book.
