Comparing Illustrations

Reading children's books on a kindle is a whole new world.  The illustrations anymore are about as different as how movies are made this year.  You have your computer animations, cartoon and real life images and so on.  When I read a children's illustrated book, I come to expect just about anything.  I have had a couple of books that I was thankful that I got free for image quality and come to think of it the story line wasn't all that great.  Some of the issue may have been because it wasn't quite compatible somewhere along the software side of things.  For that book, though, I couldn't see any images but I still read it for it is more important for a child to see and hear the words in my opinion.

In other books, it's simple print out color pages and hand drawn thrown together; not bad depending on story line. There was one book that sticks out in my mine when I think about graphics of ones that I have read.  I wrote about Jen The Dragon and I really like some of the simple color pencil hand drawn pics.  Some of it though looked to be computer printed colored with color pencil and somehow scanned and put together.

I read The Who Was Different recently and I thought it was weird for it was one to three character computer 3D graphics per page with no background.  I was like whatever.  There is where kindle has have improved books by giving us tv quality pictures.  The graphics from this book very much reminds me of Shrek.

I have also read Aw, Nuts and when I look at the graphics, it looks like it was done in an older version of Microsoft paint.  Who knows, but I like the story on the content and not pictures.  I have to say, I care more about story quality over picture quality.
